When you think of bullying, what do you think of? Many people think of a child being slammed against a locker, or people like me think of a girl being told she wasn't as strong or pretty as someone else. This is a topic we hear a lot about, but it is extremely important and needs to be stopped. There are many types of bullying and unfortunately we will only be able to look at them briefly. The commonly used and harmful types of bullying are physical, emotional and social; there are many ways to solve this problem. Bullying mainly manifests itself in three forms. I was bullied and I'm sure that boy over there was bullied too. It's everywhere and it really should stop. Parents and teachers usually worry about physical bullying, where someone is punched or hit. I consider intimidation and threats to be physical, but this is more a matter of opinion and you can think differently if you want. Social bullying can be indirect and targets the mind and not the body. If I told you that someone looked prettier than you and you couldn't date me, I would be considered a social bully. Cyberbullying and social bullying can be used together on the Internet. Facebook and other networking sites are a common place for this to happen. Threats and taunts are usually what emerge between a cyberbully and a victim. Seemingly innocent comments between friends can cause anguish in the mind of the recipient. Be open to noticing any signs of bullying so you understand why it needs to stop. People probably won't have lifelong problems from bullying, but it can happen. When I was bullied I was threatened, told things like, "I'm going to kill you." Since this happened, I won't be able to talk to this person like normal people talk to each other. Luckily, with my mother's help, the situation stopped pretty quickly after it started, but if it hadn't stopped when it started, I would have felt a lot less good. You'd be surprised how much a bully can lower someone's self-esteem. If you were harassed and ignored at school, or even at home, would you want to move on? Many kids can and will experience bullying, but very few will end up committing suicide, but this must be stopped completely..
