For example, Petts states on page 467 that “religious institutions impose social control on young people by providing a set of rules and guidelines to follow that bring them closer to other members of the religious community.” So for me what is being questioned is: if a family is not in a religious environment, what impact does that have on the young people in that family? 6.)
