The Outsiders is a perfect example of what a feel good movie should be. A group of poor, abused teenagers learn to love each other and love life by overcoming challenges that not all teenagers face. It's so heartbreaking and viewers really got the essence of what it means to have a real family, even if it may not be the kind you see in TV commercials. The film really does a great job of bringing each character's personality to life through actions and events which is very beautiful to see. I think Francis Ford Coppola does fantastically well with the costumes, settings and props where he really had to make the time period look very dated. The makeup was truly incredible; there were constant fights between Greaters and Socs, not to mention the church fire where Johnny was seriously burned. However, critics have been known to have mixed reviews of this type of film as it mirrors the events of the novel it is based on.
