MADD is a political interest group for all mothers against drunk driving. It was created specifically for mothers of children who have been victims of drunk driving, whether resulting in injury or death. Founded on September 5, 1980, MADD has had a tremendous impact on government today and an even greater impact on society. The idea of MADD was first introduced by a mother, Candice Lightner, who lost her thirteen-year-old daughter in a car accident killed by a drunk driver. She took actions and initiatives after the loss of her daughter to help prevent drunk driving accidents so that other parents would not have to deal with the grief of losing a loved one, especially their son or daughter. Whether it's spreading awareness or helping pass laws like Kyleigh's Law in New Jersey, the women of MADD have made a name for themselves as persistent, successful mothers committed to making the streets a safe place for their children , now and in the future. the future.
