Of course, television, a major source of entertainment, is enjoyable. Most adults and children find watching television programs very interesting. A good number of individuals in the society are not aware that their time, fervor and even their personal rights are being sacrificed for watching television. Although television is entertaining, accessible, affordable and attractive, most of the content it depicts, such as violence and sexual intercourse, has negative influences on its viewers. It affects children's health and disrupts our activities of daily living. Research has shown that watching television for long hours has negative effects on its viewers. Television became popular in the 1950s and has since spread across the world like a swirling fire, so fast that people overlook its effect on our ethnicity or that an average young person now wastes 8 years of their life watching this shiny television. Students no longer have time to read books because they watch television which takes up most of their time. People tend to be money-oriented, rebellious, obese and aggressive due to watching television. Mostly, television really has a negative influence on society! Statistical research has shown that over 85% of young people today are addicted to watching pornographic films. Television has mainly promoted sexual activities among youth, making them addicted to sex which will destroy them in no time. When children are exposed to watching television, their involvement in sexual activities increases day by day.
