Not many people know much about the Chicago Bears and their past. They also had a lot of good players. Examples are Harold Grange, Gale Sayers and George Halas. But the best known was Walter Payton. The Bears' stadium was one of the oldest known until it was rebuilt. The Chicago Bears are one of the most famous football teams in the entire NFL. The Chicago Bears are a very well known team in history for their history, Hall of Fame players and their stadium. As a football team, the Bears have a very rich history. The Bears have had a very long history. They have been playing since the championship started. The Bears played all ninety-three seasons. Not all seasons were winning, but most seasons did not end in defeat. They created a legacy just as the New York Yankees created theirs. They have the most retired jersey numbers with thirteen and the most professional hall of famers in football with twenty-six players. That's a truly impressive feat for a football team. (The Story of the Decade) In all the years they have played football, their record is 739-544 and they have forty-two ties. They also lead the NFL with that record. However, they weren't always called the Chicago Bears. When the league first started, they were called the Decatur Staley's. They were called Staley because the food starch company A.E. Staley financed the team's start. In 1921 the team moved to Chicago and became Chicago Staley's. They were called the Bears because of the Cubs baseball team. Former player George Halas became the manager and was given $5,000 to keep the Staley name. In 1922, it changed the name to the Bears to reflect the Cubs' baseball...... middle of paper ......001 destroyed the old Soldier Field and built the new Soldier Field. They began construction on the new field in 2002. While the stadium was being built, the Bears were scheduled to play in Champagne. The new stadium has many new features that the old stadium did not have. The stadium has a 250-foot-tall granite wall to honor the men and women who served. There are also two 96 x 23 foot video scoreboards, eight thousand club seats and one hundred and thirty-three luxury seats. The new stadium is much better than the old one. But they have proven in the past that they can become the NFL's great power. They have a very rich past and will definitely have a very rich future.
