Originally, thirteen students were invited to participate in the survey. However, only nine students received permission to participate from their guardians. The overall sample population included only six boys and three girls. Of the nine students involved in the study, four are classified as TIER II (intervention for students who have reading difficulties) students. Two other students are labeled as TIER III (intensive intervention for students with ongoing reading problems) students. One student in this study is an English language learner. The at-risk nature of the student sample also means that this sample contained more students at the lower end of academic proficiency
