Topic > Church Visit: The Community Church at Murphy's Landing

In my article I will talk about my visit to the Community Church at Murphy's Landing (CCML). I chose this particular church because it is a family type church and my neighbor goes there and encouraged me to go with her. I went there with my neighbor on April 6, 2014. This church is suitable for this assignment because the people there welcome me with an open heart and are willing to help me and provide me with information. When I visit the church website I read these words: “We know that visiting a new church can be intimidating. But we want to help you feel as comfortable as possible when and if you join us.” People gather weekly in the church to glorify God in joyful worship. Expressions of worship in the CCML take many forms: a prayer, a hymn of reverent awe, a guitar blast with a chorus of praise, or a warm handshake and a welcoming smile. Their weekly services begin at 9:30am every Sunday at the church. Also, they have a weekly podcast if anyone wants to listen online. They have many types of services for parents, children and students. The people at CCML were so friendly; they gather around me and begin to welcome me, one by one. The people there introduce themselves to me, one after another, and give me their contact information and help. Then we begin to talk about religious functions and Christianity in particular. CCML's mission was to know, grow and love. They seek to live our mission by worshiping together as a local community of believers, growing in spiritual maturity through discipleship, education and small groups, caring for one another in the context of the larger church body and small groups, and communicating the 'Love. of Christ to our world, both through local and global awareness... middle of paper ......in Islam singing has never been part of a ritual practice. That church was unlike any other place of worship I had visited before. I was very happy after this experience, because they still send me emails, emails and thank you cards every Sunday. Before I left they gave me a copy of the Book of the New Testament and the Story of Jesus to help me in my research. I felt neither foreigner nor guest; I felt that I am one of the members of the group and my gift is important to them. Of course, through that experience their goals were to know God through faith in Christ, grow in faith and spiritual maturity by providing opportunities for spiritual growth through Life Groups, and to love and serve others selflessly as Christ did, equipping and preparing for service and offering various opportunities to serve within the Church, in our community, and in the world.
