There are contributing factors between patient health outcomes and the expansion of drug insurance. One of the studies conducted involved patients who had been diagnosed with HIV. In the outcomes study among HIV patients, the observed improvements in health were a direct result of life-saving antiretroviral therapy made available to patients through their prescription drug insurance. Clearly, by reducing financial pressure on patients, prescription drug insurance helps insulate them from cost-related medication nonadherence and helps improve their health outcomes.
