Bearing in mind that this investigation will be conducted on a group of first graders aged between six and seven and who are in the of life in which learners are in the process of acquiring their mother tongue (L1) and also a second language (L2); this theory will allow you to identify the characteristics of a student at this stage of the acquisition process. As stated in Saville-Troike (2006, p. 2) “The scope of SLA includes informal L2 learning that occurs in naturalistic contexts, formal L2 learning that occurs in the classroom, and L2 learning that involves a mixture of these contexts and circumstances”. In this case, this research project will focus on the second context presented, namely formal L2 learning in SLA, as the classroom is where this research study will be developed and the results will be revealed.
