Plato wrote about what it was like to live in Atlantis and describes the Atlanteans as great engineers and architects. It had palaces, ports, temples and docks. The Capitol was built on a hill and had many rings around it filled with water. These were connected to canals large enough to allow a ship to navigate through those connected to the ocean. Plato wrote of huge fields outside the capital where farmers grew the city's food. Beyond the farmers' fields were mountains where wealthy villagers lived. Plato went into detail about the extraordinary buildings; it had cold and hot fountains, dining rooms, and stone walls covered in precious metals. He described it as a peaceful utopia.
