Being placed in a juvenile facility does not seem to be as helpful as some people think it is. The question is: why? why are teenagers sent directly to juvenile prison?. There are other ways to help a teenager, but some simply decide to place them in a facility. Youth facilities will not work for most teenagers because a problem teenager will only be mixed with other problem teenagers, which will ultimately influence them with more negativity. Compared to other adolescents with the same disorder background, adolescents entering the juvenile justice system were seven times more likely to be arrested for crimes as adults than adolescents. As much as we want to trust our children, we cannot put our trust in the unknown, that is, in those who take advantage of and exploit our children. Gangs, drugs, violence, reckless sexual practices, and predators are real and present dangers. It is up to parents not only to observe and intervene at the first sign of a problem, but also to create a loving, communicative environment in which our children develop the self-confidence and strength to resist such destructive enticements.
