The Beatles almost invented the genre of pop music. Not only did they influence many other artists, but they were an extremely diverse group of singers and songwriters. Regardless of technical ability, the Beatles achieved what no band had ever done, and have yet to be beaten by any subsequent artist. There is no other candidate for best group, because no one will ever match the musical level of the Beatles. Personally, I believe that The Beatles are the greatest band of all time because they influenced millions of people, their music was hugely successful, they were famous all over the world and their songwriting skills were legendary. For starters, The Beatles influenced millions of people around the world. In the early 1960s, teenagers were just starting to assert their voice as a generation, and the Beatles were something of an outlet for that voice (http://www.hooksandharmony.com/20-reasons-beatles- greatest-ever/ ). The Beatles appeared in the United States not long after the assassination of John F. Kennedy, so they were something of an optimistic antidote for a grieving nation (http://usatoday30.usatoday.com/life/music/news/story/ 2012 -06-10/beatles-50-anniversary/55506324/1). Furthermore, they had an influence on musical style, fashion and even worldview to a certain extent (as perhaps for the first time, the public cared about what they thought of a pop beginning). The band was mentioned in newspapers practically every day during the early part of their career, and was part of the consciousness of almost the entire world (http://www.hooksandharmony.com/20-reasons-beatles-greatest-ever/). The band was perfect for the generation for which it was created, but anyone would think that subsequent generations would continue with their music... middle of paper ......eat/)! The Beatles' success can be attributed to a combination of factors, including the songwriting genius of John Lennon and Paul McCartney, George Harrison's guitar-playing prowess, Ringo Starr's deft simplicity as a drummer, and solid harmonies group that were a distinctive feature of their recordings ( http://rockhall.com/inductees/the-beatles/bio/). Furthermore, the Beatles mastered the art of music. The rhythm and sections of their songs were put together so perfectly that no one else in the world could touch them. They were among the early innovators of how music was played, produced, written and performed. All members of the group John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison and Ringo Starr contributed to the Beatles' signature sound and songwriting (http://usatoday30.usatoday.com/life/music/news/story/2012-06-10 /beatles-50th-anniversary/55506324/1).
