An organ transplant is necessary if one of a human's organs has failed due to illness or injury. The donor can be a living person or someone who has recently died (someone who while alive agreed to donate their organs after death). In the following paragraphs, we will discuss how science has helped us use organ transplantation to stay healthy, as well as the advantages and disadvantages based on social, environmental and ethical aspects. SOCIAL Organ transplantation has had its social disadvantages and benefits. According to the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, for every organ or tissue donor, more than 50 lives can be improved or even saved. Nearly 115,000 men, children and women in the United States are waiting for an organ transplant. So, by becoming a donor you can save lives. Furthermore, the family of the deceased donor is happy with the goodness that came from the tragedy, obviously if the recipient was a deserving young person. The families of the donors thus find consolation in knowing that part of their loved one continues to live. Finally you can donate organs and continue to live a healthy life. While you are alive you can donate a kidney, parts of your liver, lung, pancreas, intestine and blood with the great possibility of living as before.
