Is life really about money, expensive jewelry and shiny, fast cars? Or have a group of loving, caring friends and family? Today everyone defines and seeks happiness differently. Many people usually seek happiness in money, material objects and meaningless relationships. None of the things mentioned lead exclusively to happiness. This is a problem in our society; everyone is “in pursuit of happiness”, but what if we don't know the correct way to pursue it? Since ancient times, philosophers and researchers have wondered about the meaning of happiness. Various researchers have studied a person's behavior after an action to determine a person's level of happiness. Despite all the research conducted, there are very few studies that examine the true meaning of happiness. Human beings invest so much time in their “pursuit of happiness”, so the meaning of happiness needs to be studied more. This article will explore the meaning of happiness and how various things affect a person's happiness. Unfortunately, the world is a very unhappy place, full of violence and suffering. Every day the news tells of a senseless act of violence, or an innocent death. Money seems to be one of the main culprits of world unhappiness. For as long as money has existed, owning a large sum of money has been the pursuit of many people around the world. Many people are convinced that happiness can only be purchased by being rich. However, when most people think about how money would change their happiness, they usually think about having more time to spend with family or not having to worry about paying bills for the month. In many cases, love between partners often leads to marriage, which many people consider one of the main reasons for their happiness. Focusing on the illusion that happiness can be achieved is clearly unrealistic. Happiness is a very complex feeling to explain, as no two people feel the same way about everything. If a survey asked each person to rate their happiness on a scale of 1 to 10, how many people do you think would be a perfect ten? Based on the research conducted on the topic, it is highly unlikely that many people are. As written in the Declaration of Independence, every American has the right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. However, many people focus on being happy in the future and worry about the future, forgetting to stop and be happy.
