What is a legacy? Is it a strictly visible and tangible object? A legacy is not just an object that people can see; it can be a dream or an idea. Although his life came to a tragic end, John F. Kennedy was one of many presidents who served his term with compassion and dedication and, moreover, left an unforgettable legacy for generations to come. His legacy was both an idea and a dream that still affects many Americans today, as he led people to believe that he would make peace between countries. “Let every nation know, whether it wishes us well or ill, that we will pay any price, bear any burden, face any hardship, support any friend, oppose any enemy to ensure the survival and success of freedom” (Kennedy). When he won the presidential election in 1961, he set goals for the United States that would represent extraordinary events. Furthermore, he would have overcome one of the most dangerous obstacles any president has ever encountered. Although Kennedy endured many hardships during his childhood, he grew up to be an ambitious and successful man. He was born in Brookline, Massachusetts on May 29, 1917 to Rose Fitzgerald Kennedy. Although to the public he was known as “Jack Kennedy”. John F. Kennedy was also prone to getting sick. He suffered from many diseases such as chickenpox, measles and whooping cough. However, this was not all he had to endure. Before the age of three, Kennedy was diagnosed with scarlet fever, a fatal disease. Fortunately, he made a full recovery and continued the routine of daily life (“John F. Kennedy”). Numerous people look back at someone's life and evaluate how important their life was.
