Today the world revolves around different types of technology which are used for many things, some are necessary and some are not. Technology is an important part of our lives and many would say we couldn't live without it. Whether we like it or not, technology is here and it won't disappear. But a big question is; Is technology good or bad? Technological advances are bad for many reasons. Some of them are that anyone with a laptop can find someone's personal information, people don't have the same face to face interaction because they always talk on the internet, and kids don't use correct grammar online, so they are losing their writing skills. An important reason why technological advances are bad is that personally identifiable information can be found by anyone with a computer. People's personal information, such as address and medical history, can be found because almost everything is online. Identity theft is a growing problem in the United States. “The scope of identity theft has grown so rapidly that it now absorbs a substantial and growing portion of law enforcement resources.” This means that identity theft is becoming a big problem. Once your ID is stolen, it can be very difficult to recover what you have lost. “Although the costs of getting your money back have gone down, victims are not getting back everything that was stolen.” This means that when people's things are stolen on the Internet, they may not recover everything that was stolen. Technology has advanced so much that anyone with a laptop can access people's personal information, and this is something that needs to change. The last reason is that children are losing their writing skills. Children are losing their writing skills because they never put in the effort to get better at writing and use improper grammar online.
