There are five main types of prefabrication currently used in New Zealand. They range from components to complete prefabricated buildings. Component prefabrication is already widely used in the construction industry in New Zealand, even on buildings that are not considered prefabricated. This typology includes parts of the building that can be prefabricated off-site to increase productivity on site, such as assembled roof trusses or wall framing sections. Complete prefab building is when entire buildings are built off-site and then purchased on site (usually) via truck. The main typology that will be explored in this project is that of panel systems. This is where the panels are built off-site and then delivered to site as a flat set of components onto which they are then assembled
