Topic > Moses, the Lord, and I - 862

The relationship that Moses has with the Lord is one that most Christians would like to have. Moses' relationship with the Lord is not just one of adoration but of friendship. They conversed with each other about a give and take relationship with Moses, even managing to question the Lord about some of the things he feels are not right and the Lord answers him. They talk to each other like we talk to our best friends. This was not a common occurrence even in the time of Moses. It was a special relationship and respected by others who left Egypt with Moses. Exodus is a narrative literary genre. It tells the story of Moses leading the chosen people out of Egypt and the paths they faced not only trying to leave, but also the tribulations they faced once they left to reach the chosen land. The narratives provide many stories about God's strengths and how he works through the person he has chosen. It also provides stories about faith and how those who have faith in God can and do overcome the many difficulties and dangers they have faced if they believe in him and his word. The particular text I cover here, Exodus thirty-three, verses twelve through twenty-three, explains how personal the relationship between Moses and the Lord is. These verses remain in context with the verses before and after because they all explain how close the relationship Moses and the Lord had. The verses also explain how God chose Moses to speak to him personally not only in the tent but also on Mount Saini when he had to write down the Ten Commandments again. One word that comes up again and again in the verses I will cover here is Favor. . Merriam Webster defines the word favor as “a friendly respect shown to one another especially by a superior. This appears to be ho...... middle of paper...... I know with a voice that can be heard and he doesn't show his physical form to anyone I know either. This text made me think more about what my personal relationship with God is. It made me understand that saying that I am a Christian and that I know God is different from having a true personal relationship with God. Since I grew up I have not employed a lot of time trying to develop a relationship with God and I should invest more time in this, just as I do with the other aspects of my life that I find important. This will make me more serious about my relationship with God and not let my problems with the church stop me from doing it for myself. In closing, these verses explain the relationship that Moses and the Lord had during the time that Moses served the Lord. They also show how each of us should strive to build a personal relationship with the Lord in our lives.
