Planning Planning for the FIFA 2014 tournament was done by company owner David Miller. He is essentially a one man show when it comes to taking care of all the related tasks that are part of running his company's various video game tournaments and events. David's goals for a successful FIFA tournament began with the smooth and timely running of the actual event. This management of functions and time is essential to providing a positive experience so that players feel satisfied with the overall quality of the tournament. The next goal is to create brand awareness by promoting other various video game tournaments and events organized by WeGotGame. Business cards and flyers are distributed throughout the tournament, adding to word-of-mouth advertising and providing a reference to keep on hand for interested potential consumers. The budget for the event was next to nothing considering WeGotGame owns its own consoles, screens, and ultimately a facility that serves as an event space. Preparing for a tournament typically takes 2 to 3 months of planning, including promoting the event via Facebook to WeGotGames' 160 members. From there, the entry fee is collected upfront (average $25 per person), although some "walk ins" are accepted on the day and are subject to paying a slightly higher entry fee. Game consoles used by WeGotGame include XBOX 1, PS4 and XBOX 360 and are chosen based on demand and games available for each console. The target demographic is males aged between 18 and 24. This demographic was chosen based on the majority of players playing FIFA 14. The expected number of participants in the tournament was 32, which is a minimum figure; however that number can go up to 46 depending on h...... middle of paper ......control setting which would allow its employees to exercise greater self-control by giving the confidence and awareness to participate on their own to these tournaments which will thus give David the opportunity to do other things to improve the overall aspect of the business, such as organizing more tournaments, hiring more people, which would increase the profitability of his company. In conclusion, this FIFA tournament provided us with the opportunity to witness how our project Manager David Miller of WeGotGame applied planning, organizing, leading and controlling techniques to successfully achieve desired goals for himself and the company , we think it was a great opportunity to delve deeper and see how his organization worked and the tournaments he hosted, as well as see the interesting business aspects needed to have a profitable and successful company dealing with video game competition.
