Tompkins defines organizational communication as “the study of sending and receiving messages that create and maintain a system of consciously coordinated activities or forces of two or more people.” (Michael B. Salwen, 1996) A person gains a lot by achieving a goal, but more can be achieved by working in a team. Organizations seem to have this idea in mind. 83% of companies reported working in teams. Organizations practicing corporate communication in a team date back to ancient times. Today we will look at teams in organizations from a leader's perspective to study the role of a leader and how they contribute to a team's effectiveness. “It is not possible to build a great team without great players. This is a fact. As the saying goes: “With good players you can lose, but without them you can't win”. So there are two choices: train them or trade them. (Maxwell, 2002) A team begins with a leader who is a valuable player within the team. He is the leader who organizes teams, and regardless of an individual's level of experience on a team, he can contribute infinite qualities of talent to the creation of a masterpiece. The role of a leader comes with many responsibilities. Coach your team and communicate with them. Encourage your team to work hard and set high standards. Reward the team when its performance is exaggerated. Manage team diversity and effectiveness to improve the organization. Building a team is not an easy task. A leader must first find a purpose or reason to build a team. The reason could be to create a new product or service for a company.
