From kindergarten to twelfth grade, you may be required to take many different types of physical education and health classes. In the early years they would most likely have learned some of the basic movements: hopping, skipping, skipping and galloping. As the years passed, they would learn to play different sports and would continue to specialize in different aspects of the sport. Today, the United States is facing an epidemic where parents may outlive their children due to unhealthy bodies. The physical well-being of the younger generation is a hot topic in many school districts, as many children are not active enough. However, throughout history, physical education has not always been promoted to children. One of the first physical education movements to hit Europe dates back to the Enlightenment. This movement was spurred by many different philosophers who sought greater individuality and tolerance from governments and the Church. Throughout history, the study of physical education has spread, but during the Age of Enlightenment, physical education became an important study throughout Europe and its effects are still visible today. The Age of Enlightenment is classified as “The process of making light out of what is dark.” Many countries in Europe remained uneasy as many of the “old” forms of government began to lose the support of citizens. During this period many countries were going through economic and political changes. The feudal form of government was in steep decline and parts of the middle class became more important to the government. As the “new world” expanded, new markets were experiencing a dramatic boom becoming an isolated discipline and many citizens began to challenge... half of the paper... due to the lack of space for students, many other institutions began to develop their own physical education courses which encouraged the spread of physical education in all over the world.
