African crops were difficult to grow and animals were almost impossible to domesticate. Because of this, Africans had to work much harder than Europeans just to produce enough food to survive. Specialists could not be trained in African society because everyone was engaged in agriculture. This absence of specialists has led to a lack of advanced technology, which has caused Africa to slowly fall behind the rest of the world. Eventually Africa became so vulnerable that when Europe came to colonize the continent with the technology they had developed, Africa could do nothing to stop them.
