Topic > Research Paper on the Benefits of Avoiding Texting While Driving

Do you use your cell phone while driving? Much of society texts while driving or uses any social media to take selfies while on the road. However, there are many dangers to texting while driving – they don't just affect the driver but everyone around them. We think of texting as a quick action, but sometimes it can take our eyes off the road for quite some time, leading us to have less time to refocus on the road. There are many ways people can avoid driving and texting without creating such problems. This includes apps that block notifications or simply put your cell phone out of reach while driving. There are many great benefits to avoiding this simple habit, but the most important one is saving humanity. The use of cell phones has been the main cause of many car accidents. Say no to plagiarism. It's quite crazy to think that around three thousand people die at this rate every day just because one person can't keep their hands off their cell phone. Humanity needs to be restored to avoid extinction with all these people crashing and killing others. As Liz Soltan stated, "If you drive 55 miles per hour and take your eyes off the road for the average time it takes to read a text, five seconds, you will have zoomed in. length of a football field without looking at the road." "Just imagining a football field is enormous enough to think about wasting so much time with our eyes away from the road. It makes you refocus your eyes on the road is quite funny because usually we think we can put our eyes back on the spot but unfortunately that's not the case. What would happen if you texted slower, even worse instead of five seconds, now it translates into 10 or 15 seconds leading to a car accident injuring innocent people or even worse causing their death. Taking our eyes off the road can change our lives in five seconds or less: whether or not we will get to our destination is no longer a question. Now, if we take longer than the average writer, it might be too late to even hit the send button. Trying to avoid using our cell phones can be quite difficult as we live in such a technological age, we are usually always connected to technology to stay in touch with our relatives or friends, but you may be able to put it aside. For example, we can use our notification blocking apps, iPhones usually have the feature where it says do not disturb. The Do Not Disturb feature blocks any text messages or notifications to prevent your phone from ringing or vibrating so it doesn't get your attention. Notifications will be present once you open your phone but when they are received you will not receive notifications to avoid distractions. There are also third-party apps that can be downloaded from the Apple App Store or Google Play and offer users features that can be customized to their needs. Many of these apps also include a feature where if anyone calls or texts you it's you and when this mode is on it automatically sends "I'm driving, please call or text me more.
