Skyy Vodka constantly runs suggestive ads. Advertisements always appeal to sex and often promote the sexual benefits of drinking Skyy Vodka. This article will analyze two Skyy Vodka advertisements. The first advertisement is titled “The Antagonist”. This ad adheres to the usual standards of Skyy ads and has an underlying theme of whiteness, male supremacy and female threat to that power. To attract attention, this advertisement uses a visual title, which is simply the name of the product, enough to attract people's attention. In the foreground on the left is the product photo, a bottle of Skyy Vodka sitting next to a martini on a table, representing the title. To create interest, the body copy of this advertisement shows a scene portrayed by the man and the woman. The scene of the advertisement takes place at night in an apartment in a skyscraper of a thriving metropolis. In the apartment the curtains are pulled aside for now while a woman, perhaps in her twenties, is astride a man, of indefinable age, sitting on a chair of which only his legs and forearm are visible. Additionally, to generate excitement there is also the whole power play going on in the scene. The man is holding a martini and the woman is holding a drink mixer while looking seductively into the mysterious man's face. The man wears a suit and the woman wears the cliché “black dress” and black hills. Both the male and female are Caucasian. Furthermore, advertising uses the element of sex appeal to induce action. The main attraction for sex is the body language between the man and the woman, as the man's legs are between hers and his posture and lewd facial expression that strikes... center of the card ...essentially a depiction of the sexes' battle for supremacy. Although at first glance the woman is depicted as inferior while addressing the man, and is also rather devalued as a person who wears revealing clothing, there is an underlying competition between the man and the woman, emphasized by the colors and symbols . The woman uses sex and alcohol to weaken the man, attempting to gain some dominance in the male world seen through the window. Yet from the title of the advertisement we can see that the woman's actions are "antagonistic". The woman is criticized for her techniques to achieve power, but the male is not criticized for objectifying women or using them to satisfy sexual fantasies. While an advertisement for Skyy Vodka, this advertisement presents the world of a successful white male and warns him against the young seductress, desperate for power..
