Not reading literature is harming the population on how to be literature properly. Texting someone in bland conversation hasn't educated our minds as well as reading actual literature would. Reading literature would do great things for their minds if they dedicated their time to it instead of texting. However, most people prefer to spend their time exchanging text messages, which usually include shortened and misspelled words. Additionally, time spent reading improper text messages has made communicating that way a habit. For example, teens will communicate with someone in real life with common text abbreviations like: “g2g” and “ttyl,” instead of actually saying “I have to go” and “talk to you later.” They are improper ways of communicating with someone, and they are becoming habits of younger generations. Furthermore, reading real literature educates and trains the mind better than text messages. For example, it is commonly said that the best way to exercise your mind and expand your vocabulary is to read literature. Whether it's fiction or nonfiction, your vocabulary is expanding and your literacy rate is expanding. People gave texting a higher priority than reading
