Topic > The Importance of Discouraging Gender Quotas - 1406

The white-collar workforce has been dominated by men since the dawn of the working age. However, as time goes by, women are joining this workforce around the world. Long gone are the days when most women found themselves in the kitchen cooking for their cantankerous husbands while they waited for them to return from work. Soon, gender equality became a fundamental human right. In addition to this, some governments, especially the European government, have gone too far by imposing a useless high-level job quota system reserved exclusively for women, without taking into account their qualifications; thus claiming to be able to create a level of equality for both men and women. However, this imposed a new challenge for young workers as their promotion chances would be given to a woman. Therefore, it is of utmost importance that the government does not unnecessarily reserve any percentage of senior jobs for women. Although these quotas are believed to act as a remedy for the lack of women, the number of their disadvantages clearly outweighs the pros since the employment of high-level jobs should be based on equality with equal job opportunities, and the imposition of these quotas will end up compromising the quality of work due to the difference in personality and composition between men and women, and the lack of support for quotas as some women themselves simply do not want quotas to be implemented. It is not surprising that the reservation of a high level of jobs for women is due to the obvious lack of women in these sectors compared to men. By introducing this quota system, you will get different and equal numbers of both sexes at the highest level since it must be practiced quickly and directly na...... middle of the paper ...... of both sexes, and the different personalities of many women make them unsuitable for work and the unwelcome acceptance of the quota system by women themselves. Equality should not be imposed on people, neither in education nor in family life. Instead, equality can only be achieved when those who are sufficiently skilled earn these high-level jobs regardless of gender. Furthermore, it makes no sense to assign high-level positions to unqualified women as this will deteriorate the company's performance in the long (or short) term. Many women's opinions on challenging gender quotas also demonstrated that gender quotas themselves are not the best choice for balancing the number of men and women at the top. Therefore, it is wise for the government to opt for solutions other than implementing quotas to balance gender equality.
