It's a big problem because people don't recognize it and don't understand the severity of the crime. Human trafficking is where children, teenagers and adults are prostituted for money. Some are forced to have sex. Human trafficking happens all over the world, but its effects in Nevada are devastating. Since 1994, 2,229 victims of human trafficking have been rescued. According to Project Polaris, there are currently 27 million victims worldwide. Human trafficking has become big business around the world. Human trafficking is a crime, but it is also very difficult to track. One problem that appears more often is Backpage.com. Backpage has made it easier for this sex trafficking to happen in hotel rooms rather than on the street corner. While Backpage contributes greatly to this problem, there are many other cities that do the same. In the state of Nevada, human trafficking can be treated as murder. The definition of human trafficking in Nevada is “the trafficking of persons who are usually forced to work as laborers or prostitutes.” Traffickers usually lure their victims with the promise of a better life. Under the 13th Amendment, human trafficking is considered a federal crime. Human trafficking cases are the most difficult cases to defend. Countless serious charges are brought in the state of Nevada. Most defense attorneys rely on lack of knowledge, financial gain, and illegal police activity to defend their case. Lack of knowledge is that the defendant does not know that the victim is illegal. This project uses art to express the struggle and difficulties of human trafficking, in order to raise awareness. We have the power to end human trafficking. Blue Blind Fold helps raise awareness of this crime, in hopes of putting an end to it completely. Blue Blind Fold also deals with human trafficking and terrorist travel facilities. Blue Blind Fold tries to make the point that there are strengths in numbers and we have those numbers. Crimestoppers has endorsed Blue Blind Fold as a global human trafficking brand. Crimestoppers supports over 1000 projects worldwide. A partnership project for Blue Blind Fold is the Blue Heart campaign. Blue Heart tries to convey the feelings of the victims. When a victim is trafficked or about to be trafficked, they are usually depressed and distant.
