If people have had an idea for a person or place, that no one has ever heard of, does that mean it's not real? I mean, who's to say that someone like Superman, Aquaman, and The Flash, or a group like the Green Lantern Corps. Or does the Justice League not exist? They can be perfectly real and yet be unknown to the rest of the world. Maybe they are not part of this world, galaxy or maybe not even this universe, but that doesn't stop them from being real. Maybe there is something similar to Star Wars, just like the opening credits say: "A long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away..." These specific events may have happened a long time ago, but maybe there are some places in the universe or in a different universe where people like Luke Skywalker and things like X-Wings, Star Destroyers, laser blasters, and lightsabers exist. I've met some people who think that when someone does something, even something as simple as turning left at a fork in the road, a new parallel universe is created in which that person who turned left in our universe turns right instead. A lot of people say that because we've never seen someone like The Flash, or something like Green Lantern's ring, they don't exist. I think the only reason we haven't seen or heard of any of these people or things is that they are either hiding or they exist, just not on our planet. Maybe we haven't looked far enough, or maybe we're not looking in the right areas. Science has only advanced so far, and we don't have the technology or resources to conduct research across the vast areas of our galaxy. The closest thing to Star Wars that I have heard of is an ion engine, which will be used on the "Dawn" spacecraft of the Discovery program. 'Dawn' will travel to the third and largest asteroids, Vesta and Ceres, respectively in the solar system. Also, take some time to see how interstellar travel plays out in Star Wars. They travel in ships that vary greatly in size and shape, the smallest being single-seat fighters and the largest being space stations and command ships. Say no to plagiarism. Now, for the people... People like Clark Kent (Superman) exist, but only in places far out of our reach even in the distant future. (just for more info, Clark doesn't have his powers just because he's from Krypton, but it's mostly because of our yellow sun, whose energy his body absorbed as he grew up. I'll go more in depth about Clark later, maybe next week.). I can't imagine what it would be like to be friends with someone like Superman, Aquaman, or Hal Jordan (the most powerful Green Lantern). I can't even imagine what would be going on in my mind or what I would say to them. Maybe they all have powerful personalities, maybe they can't stay and talk because they're busy. Hell, maybe they're just like you and me. I can't even think of a set of circumstances where someone like Clark Kent would want to talk to me. I remember getting one of those "Who are you?" polls around third grade, and around that time, my answers went something like this: Person(s) you would most like to meet: Neil Armstrong (he was, and still is, a huge astronomy geek), the President, and probably one of the Power Rangers or something...
