This quote from Dr. John illustrates the tidal currents in the middle of the Pacific Ocean where a floating island has emerged. It is made entirely from rubbish and rubbish thrown into the sea over the decades. The location is where all the tidal currents meet in the Pacific Ocean. This implies that marine life has been widely affected in the area surrounding this vast waste island. Therefore, sea pollution has literally gone out of control. "The deep blue sea is now a deep, dark sea. Fish and other sea creatures are dying in large numbers." This quote implies that the ocean was once a vast, giant blue body of water, full of life. Now it's a horror story. It is full of garbage and pollution. Fish are killed along with smaller trash. Some fish species are becoming extinct. This includes the dolphin, which is not a fish. But it is a marine creature on the verge of extinction if humans do nothing about their habits that cause pollution to these poor animals. "The darkest place on Earth is now the ocean. With oil spills poisoning the pristine blue waters." This quote implies that oil reserve and oil rig spills are a growing problem causing harm to all types of marine life. The sea is blackening due to oil naturally staining the immaculate, crystalline waters. Then he talks about oil spills in the Middle East. "The seas of Middle-earth are the greatest cause for concern." Where most of the Arabian Gulf is choked with black slicks of oil. In the second part of the book, Dr. John begins to talk about the pollution of the sky. "The number of planes in the sky is growing every day. This is also a growing concern." Dr. John is implying that the increasing number of commercial flights is polluting the sky. Therefore, both plants and animals are affected. With massive chemtrails, the air on the planet's surface is slowly contaminated with poisonous fumes and noxious gases. These things are not good for humans, wildlife and plants. “With the increase in factories, the air is sometimes difficult to breathe.” The writer suggests that pollution caused by nuclear power plants is also a growing problem. It is polluting the air extremely, more than commercial flights. "In a Nepalese city they wear masks. Because the air is very foggy and full of fumes." implying that the air is completely polluted to the point that the general population is required to wear face masks so as not to be exposed to extreme amounts of poisonous fumes and pollution. It also implies that the air is filled with visible poisonous gases and fumes, making it difficult to see in these areas. "Birds fall from the sky." This quote is the most heartbreaking to read. It has gotten to the point where huge numbers of birds are falling from the sky. This tragedy is a common occurrence in cities 23, 2019.
