Topic > The philosophy of teaching

Teaching has grown with my many years of teaching experience. As I reflect on my beliefs about teaching and learning, I find that my mission as a college professor has three key components; promote positive learning, arouse enthusiasm for learning, provide a solid foundation for lifelong learning. I apply a wide range of strategies based on essential educational principles that include cognitive functioning, learning theory, diversity, planning and evaluation. Students' level of cognitive functioning must be considered to implement and apply appropriate strategies to challenge the student. You should regularly plan activities, such as quick writes, that can help me determine my students' levels and tailor my instruction accordingly. Without this consideration, I would risk the possibility of my students experiencing 'hit and miss' learning. Say no to plagiarism. For example, when used appropriately, behavioral theory offers a variety of principles that can benefit learning and classroom management at all levels. Cognitive learning principles offer significant contributions, particularly in brain-based research, regarding memory systems and active information processing. Some of my favorite activities that are well received by students of all ages include: think-pair-share, classroom puzzle activities, constructive controversy, and interactive lessons. The cultural diversity of a group and each individual's learning style help me understand how to best meet the needs of the group as a whole. You will then be able to design and customize effective instructions by implementing appropriate strategies. While a variety of learning styles are likely to be represented by students in any large class/group setting, I routinely design my instruction using the inquiry-based learning cycle; this cycle provides me with the structure to understand a repertoire of effective strategies, which can accommodate individual preferences, engage diverse students, and help establish respect for different preferences and perspectives. Curriculum and instruction planning is a key consideration for teachers. There are many different areas to consider, including direct instruction, exposure and inquiry-based methods, as well as group instruction. My lessons are always clearly planned with the end goal in mind. I also plan how the overall lesson will engage the student and how the lesson will be measured. Different groups have different needs based on diversity, so clear planning is essential to keep the class focused and confidently achieve the desired outcome. Assessments are very important to see if students are acquiring the information they need. I firmly believed that I was accurately evaluating my course content with a wide variety of assessments. To this end, it is appropriate to often use rubrics, quick writing, checklists, projects and traditional exams and tests. Assessments are just one way to help students be more effective in their roles as learners. Please note: this is just an example. Get a custom paper from our expert writers now.
