Time is inevitable, even if you want time to slow down or stop completely, it is simply impossible. Throughout life everyone deals with the time factor. Some may want to savor a moment or perhaps wish for time to fly but, no matter what, time passes at the same pace and speed as always. Time will not stop just because you want it to, time will not stop to flow at the scheduled time. Time will go on forever, and how you handle that acceptance is different for everyone. Daisy and Gatsby face their past relationship and both must decide for themselves what that time apart did to them and how it affected them. Daisy has taken that time aside and is using it as acceptance and healing, developing a family, and seems to have an understanding that if she didn't move on now, she would be missing out on some things and didn't want to throw them away. those distant years. Gatsby doesn't fully connect the pieces as time moves forward and while his life was on hold for Daisy, he didn't know that she had already moved on. Both individuals were dealt the same cards, but it is what you do with your cards that affects the outcome of the game. You could fold your hand and try to find a better hand for later, or you could check and stay with that hand for too long and lose all your money. There is a beautiful quote from Shakespeare that says: “Time is very slow for those who wait, very fast for those who fear, very long for those who complain, very short for those who celebrate, but for those who love. Time is eternal” (Shakespeare). Daisy knew when to let go and while she is developing a life for herself, Gatsby is still clinging to what could have been five years ago. Time is one of the most difficult obstacles that you can never truly overcome. Time will eventually beat us all down and will be the major factor in everyone's life. His
