Imagine, if you will, a strong night wind blowing quickly across a lake carrying a pungent odor, something you can't quite identify, but which is still familiar enough to give you a long shiver the back. When it hits the trees, they send out a dark call into the still night air. Or was that moan something more... human? You notice, for the first time, the absence of tires humming on the asphalt and wonder if it's that late, or maybe it's just a slow night. The soft tapping of your shoes on the pavement is the only accompaniment your slow breathing has as you move towards the warmth of your home, holding the thought of a warm bed in the palm of your hand to keep the cold away. You don't notice it at first, perhaps because the reality of what you're hearing is too obscene to be real, but there's definitely someone behind you now, right in earshot. But what you hear isn't the tracing of your footsteps along the sidewalk by another midnight traveler, it's the distinct sound of a pained gait, as if they were limping and letting out a muffled groan to accentuate their plight. You look back to see… nothing. Pushing yourself off as if it were a trick of the wind, you move forward, close enough now to see your door, but far enough away that you don't hear his reassurance. The wind continues its deceptions, it seems to invite its gusty brothers to echo its increasingly convincing call. You quicken your pace, almost running now, as the trees cry out as you pass, calling to you, begging you to stop, even just for a moment, so they can have a word with you. And what word could that be, you wonder as you begin a full sprint. Then, as if in direct response to your thoughts, they all shout in unison, "Brrrraaaaaaaaiiiiinnns..." When you realize what... middle of the paper... our late night encounter Walker, how should they have handled that situation ? That's correct; they should have stayed inside and not gone out on the streets in the middle of a zombie apocalypse like an idiot. I'm happy to see you've learned a lesson or two; or at least you went from “A zombie outbreak could never happen and probably wouldn't even be a big deal even if it did” to “Aaaaaahhhh! Zombie! For what a terrifying and surprising turn of events I am now prepared!” Now, on a completely unrelated topic, I was walking down the street last night when this guy runs up to me and tries to bite me! It was really strange; it was covered in blood or something and smelled like a dead horse, but maybe it was just dirt. He looked incredibly homeless, so that could explain it. He was probably just crazy or something. Can you believe it??
