I did this when she agreed to her best friend deciding to move out. Even though Sofia's destination was much further than mine from Nanas, we had the same feeling towards the transition. Berta's reaction was similar to mine. Berta said, “why not stay and graduate here as [valedictorian]” (Canales 44). Which is similar to what I said to Nanas to convince her to stay. She then went on to explain that the courses were different and that they would help her start her career when she went to college. Berta didn't seem to reason with Sofia as she explained the advantages and reasons for leaving, but when Nanas explained it to me I understood that it was the best thing for her. At that moment I knew that this was a great opportunity for her and her family. She seemed as scared as I was and I wanted to be there for her even if the distance would make our friendship fade over the years. I had to be there for her in this moment to thank her for all the years of our amazing friendship
