The importance and appropriateness of using different methodologies for research. Introduction The research process involves the logical and systematic search for useful data and information regarding a specific topic (Jha, 2008). It also includes the investigation of the best, most cost-effective and appropriate solutions to both social and scientific issues, following an objective and logical analysis. Jha, (2008) defines research as the search for knowledge and the discovery of truth. During this process, data can be collected from a wide set of sources including interviews, books, nature, among others. The data can then be analyzed with the appropriate data analysis tools, in order to report the results. The methodology allowed the researcher to offer a greater understanding of the housing and health issue and further contributed to the development of ideas and hypotheses for quantitative research. The researcher used qualitative methodology to discover the trends observed in the housing and healthcare fields, mainly through thoughts and opinions that allowed him to delve deeper into the issue (Chilisa,2012). The main data collection techniques used by the researcher included observations and interviews. This set of techniques ensured that the data collected was source directed increasing its validity. The first journal article used qualitative methodology. The research team used this approach with the aim of quantifying the housing and health problem by generating numerical data that was transformed into statistics. The researcher, using this methodology, attempted to quantify not only the attitudes, but behaviors, as well as opinions and other variables of the sample population and generalized the results to reality. By choosing the research methodology, researchers can formulate the path forward used to conduct the study and report the findings. The methodology helps in searching the literature, developing research questions and creating the most suitable study design. It also helps in interpretation of results and publication of results in journals. References. Jha, N. (2008). Research methodology. Chandigarh: Abhishek Publications.
