Topic > Taphonomy Case Study - 1708

As with archaeology, forensic anthropologists must study existing taphonomic models to better understand how they can be applied to the field of forensic anthropology. Although the context of the remains is different (archaeological vs. forensic), the excavation techniques are similar. In both cases, the researcher must reconstruct the activities at a site, the location of those activities, and their sequence (Scott & Connor, 2006). The strongest paradigm within which anthropologists/archaeologists work is that human behavior is shaped and therefore the artefacts that remain as a result of human behavior are also shaped (Scott & Connor, 2006). Taphonomy has moved beyond simple human behavior to connect biological, chemical, and geological elements
