Sex Trafficking Throughout the 21st century, the number of humans captured and placed into sex trafficking and prostitution has increased. In 2013, approximately 270,000 boys, girls and women were forced into human trafficking in the United States alone and an estimated 20.9 million worldwide. The UN has also estimated that almost 4,000,000 are trafficked every year. UNICEF has estimated that approximately 50% of all victims of trafficking worldwide are minors, and that approximately two-thirds of these adolescents are forced into the sex trade at some point. It's a $52 billion industry. Two children are sold every minute, 120 per hour. In other cases the mothers of these children would sell them for money for financial reasons, which forces them into this horrible crime, which no one should be a part of. What is human/sex trafficking itself? It is a version of slavery where young women and minors are harbored and forced into prostitution. It's a big problem not only in foreign countries, but also in the United States. In the United States, prostitution/human trafficking is among the top 10 most common violations, number 1 in countries such as China, Ghana, Haiti and others. The numbers are increasing, but why is no one trying to stop this heinous crime? Law enforcement is not taking sufficient measures to put an end to this horrible crime. Instead they are spending more time on (insert different crime). Human trafficking is not only prostitution, but also kidnapping. Most victims of this crime are kidnapped.
