Topic > Benefits of Stem Cell Research - 2513

Take a minute to imagine a world in which some of the diseases once thought to be dangerous or life-altering could be cured. Diseases including lupus, Lou Gehrig's disease, arthritis and countless others may very well be treatable. Many would consider a treatment like this a miracle, but the miracle treatment is this, which can help numerous people with their pain and help alter the dismal quality of life that countless others are facing but, nevertheless, it is denounced as an act against God ? What if I told you that this life-altering biomedical research was not conducted, but was deliberate, obfuscated and sidelined by American politics and scorned in the court of public opinion due to misinterpretation. This very search is something we hear in the news and in politics; Considered by some politicians to be one of the key elements in their journey to political stardom and their election, stem cell research, especially now that techniques are being developed to create stem cells from an individual's body tissues. Every day we hear about these incredible unspecialized cells and we continue to hear that other researchers around the world are discovering new uses for them every day, but yet our government has refused to support such life-altering research. Why didn't the government support this groundbreaking medical research? My belief is that our government should support stem cell research clinics with federal funds to help save the lives of countless Americans, emphasizing that the benefits of such research far outweigh the disadvantages. There are several topics in America that no one talks about unless they do. you are extremely close to the person they are arguing with, or they... middle of document ......January 1, 2008 .President's Bioethics Council.
