Greek mythology is a collection of stories from ancient Greece based on their culture and practices. It is also about their gods and heroes, as well as their origins. Each of the Greek myths has a moral message through the written stories. It teaches us the good deeds and wrongdoings of the gods and goddesses and how we, as human beings, should act. Therefore, Greek mythology should be taught to high school students. There is something unique and different in each of the Greek myths, each has its own message that it wants to convey. Let's take the example of the Greek myth Athena and Arachne. This is the story of a young girl who went against the goddess Athena because she thought she was the best at weaving. In the story, Athena herself was jealous of the girl called Arachne because of her incredible skill. Due to his jealousy, he turns Arachne into a spider. From this story we are shown the poor quality of the goddess because god and goddesses should not be jealous especially of a mortal. So the moral is not to challenge those who are better than you and too much pride will also lead to ruin. Greek mythology was also the origin of many objects and events in the world. An example is the Olympic Games. The name Olympic comes from Mount Olympus, believed to be the home of all Greek gods and goddesses. Another example would be Valentine's Day. This special event is held on February 14th, Cupid is the icon of this particular event. The Greek god of love and the son of Aphrodite symbolize Valentine's Day, this is because of the Greek myth in which Cupid fell deeply in love with a mortal. Another reason why Greek mythology should be taught to high school students is that in high school education Greek myth will be involved in the curriculum. Top universities around the world have included Greek studies in their curriculum, for example at Harvard, Oxford, Yale and other universities. Even high school students have the right to study Greek myth. No one has the right to limit that right. The entire example I gave relates to my argument that Greek mythology should be taught to high school students..
