Communication is important when dealing with interdisciplinary teams. Communication is the best way to create a good working environment. When participating in an interdisciplinary team meeting, each participant must be willing to engage honestly and use good communication skills. According to Shirey, M. (2006), “employees should be treated respectfully and fairly and employees should have the opportunity to participate in decision making”. (p258) Nurses should be seen as individuals and decisions should not be made just for money. Competent communication must be used that allows each nurse the right to express their opinions. We need to make them feel like an important part of the team. They should not fear retaliation or that their jobs are in jeopardy. Using these tools will lead to secure communication and collaboration
