This skill could be used in business to persuade someone to become the leader of a group project. For example: the group had agreed on the ideal type of person and within the group there were two obvious candidates, Sue and Steven. Sue suggested that Steven take on the task and he happily accepted. Decision made. Everyone smiled, except one member of the group, John. John, who had remained silent until then, said, “Steven, don't forget to let us know what you want us to do to help you. With your new job, you'll have a lot to do and you'll need to make sure we stay organized, otherwise we won't be able to get everything done. Steven looked thoughtful, and then said, “You know, on reflection, I'm not sure I have time to do this on top of starting my new job. I have a lot to do, as you say. Maybe it would be better if Sue did it. Everyone looked at Sue, who said she would take care of it if the group wanted. They all agreed it would be best. This example shows that persuasion in business can mostly be a good thing. It allowed the group to come together and decide who would have a better outcome for the group. Persuasion is a great key for business communication or personal use. The website that provides instructions on how to develop this skill is:
