The main debate that everyone argues and argues about is whether censorship is morally and politically correct. Due to current society and culture, people around the world are constantly exposed to inappropriate and potentially harmful content. Due to this serious problem, it is necessary to censor these events for the well-being of the next future generations. To begin with, you need to understand the definition of censorship in order to make any arguments or hypotheses. “Without an adequate understanding of the word” it can be potentially harmful to society (Wilson par.1). First we need to understand the two different types of censorship present. They say that when a newspaper decides not to publish a particular image it's called editing, but when a school district withdraws a book from a library it's called censorship. Understanding this difference is crucial to understanding censorship. First and foremost, it is our society's duty to protect children from viewing inappropriate and harmful content. Children are like sponges and absorb everything around them without a filter. When a sponge becomes too wet it is of no use and is discarded. Likewise, children with too much useless information can be harmful to society and will ultimately be, in a sense, thrown away. Inappropriate content can constantly be found online, in the media, art and other sources of entertainment. These sources contain information that brainwashes the minds of children and once exposed to such content can never be erased... middle of paper... appropriate ten years ago may be appropriate today. An example of this was when the books Heather has Two Mommies and Daddy's Roommate were published. These books were the two most popular targets to be removed from library shelves in 1993. The reason was that they covered topics about same-sex relationships that were considered inappropriate in 1993. Today, in 2014, the popular children's television network, Disney Channel, he featured a homosexual book couple on the popular show “Good Luck Charlie.” Ultimately, censorship is a very controversial topic that influences people's political and moral opinions. Because our current culture is full of explicit and inappropriate material, it is “society's responsibility to ensure that everyone has access to the best education” and the future, but at the same time keep up with the evolution of the world. (Wilson par.10).
