In work environments, distractions caused by cell phones and Internet browsing have a negative impact on overall productivity. Employees fail to provide quality customer service and are unable to do so. to complete their daily tasks (Laroya). This has a negative impact on the overall economy. This lack of productivity has forced companies to change the way they operate. People are being replaced by machines due to their apathetic approach to personal interaction and communications (Nilles). Technology has had a positive impact on our society and has also brought many challenges that lead to the loss of human interaction.
