We would like to talk about the Eskimos. The word Eskimo was first coined by the Indians, meaning people who eat fresh meat. However, most Eskimos did not like this name, so they changed it to Inuit which means "true people" in the Eskimo language. The distribution of the Eskimos was extremely widespread among the indigenous Arctic populations. The Eskimos moved to Canada (Greenland), the United States (Alaska), the Aleutian Islands, Russia (Siberia). The population number is approximately 90,000 people. Their religions were mainly traditional animism and Christianity. The Eskimos came from northern China after two migrations to the Arctic, they looked like Tibetans with yellow skin and black hair. (Inuit, n.d.)The original Eskimos emerged in western Alaska and spread eastward across the Arctic after crossing Siberia four thousand years ago. Most of them chose to live in Ungava Bay and the eastern coast of Hudson Bay. In the past, the Dorset Eskimos owned all of the quthorities and had held the territory for over a thousand years.
