Children spend more time watching television than outside playing. They also have many types of time-occupying gadgets such as PlayStation, tablets, I-phones and computers. The most exercise a child gets today is at the touch of a button. In the past, like the mid-1970s and 1980s, there weren't all the gadgets that kids have today to occupy their time. Our parents enforced outside activities where we jumped rope, played hopscotch, tag, hide and seek, and went to the park. There is also a lack of exercise in the school system. Within some school systems, recess is not as common as it was in the past. Teachers spend more time teaching children technology than letting them use the mobility of their limbs. Children who suffer from childhood obesity often face emotional problems as well. For example, children diagnosed with childhood obesity may feel embarrassed about their weight. They tend to experience stress and depression which leads them to overeat. Bullying also plays a role in this problem. Bullied children seek food as a safety net or for comfort. Some foods like chips and candy are comfort foods. In cases like this children with the condition of obesity feel so useless that they start to experience suicide
