The first health probably resulting from being overweight is coronary heart disease. As a person's body weight increases, the risk of coronary heart disease or CHD also increases. Coronary heart disease is a condition in which a waxy substance called plaque begins to build up inside the coronary arteries. The coronary arteries supply oxygen-filled blood to the heart. Plaque will narrow or block these arteries, reducing blood flow to the heart and muscles. This could cause a person to have a heart attack and obesity can also lead to heart failure. This is a very serious condition in which your heart cannot pump enough blood to meet your body's needs. The next thing is high blood pressure and this happens when the force of the blood pushes against the walls of the arteries as the heart pumps blood. If this pressure on the artery walls remains too high over time, it will harm the body in many ways. So, if a person is overweight, they will be more likely to have high blood pressure. When a person is obese it can lead to the formation of plaque in the arteries and if one of these areas of plaque breaks down it can cause a blood clot to form. Hopefully this clot is not from a person's brain because if it was it could block blood flow to the brain and cause a stroke. You may also get type two diabetes, a disease when your blood glucose, or blood sugar, level is too high. The body usually breaks down food into glucose,
