One of the results of this is the new classes that have been created due to industrialization; there were the wealthy elites from noble backgrounds, the middle class who lived a very comfortable life in the countryside with increased product options, and then the working class. The mass influx of workers into the cities led to very unsanitary conditions. There was heavy pollution due to smoke from coal burning factories, very crowded living situations with animals inside buildings, and diseases that spread rapidly due to dirty streets and buildings (PPT industrialization). Workers who had the necessary skills for manual labor became obsolete as they were no longer needed, so their income dropped dramatically. The workers were carefully watched during the day and forced to work quickly, so many jobs were monotonous and peasant families were separated. Middle-class women slowly fell out of the workforce because, unless they were needed to work, society placed more emphasis on them taking care of their families at home. Working-class women, however, still had to work to make up their husbands' wages and were preferred because of their small hands. Some even became servants and sent money home or saved it for their goals. Life was not comfortable for the working class and many of them were depressed because of it
