Topic > Goals in Goal Setting - 979

Many people have goals, it's simply a common idea that all people have, big or small, a half-hearted joke or a dream you want to achieve. However, what most people don't understand is that it takes much more than a wish or desire. Most people think that if they want it so bad, it will come true. Yet there are others who know that it takes a significant amount of planning, mental preparation, commitment, perseverance and determination. Some of these people use FOCUS, a method used in goal setting. FOCUS stands for Wearability, Properties, Concreteness, Utility and Elasticity. The idea is to make sure your goal fits your personal core values, that it's a goal that truly makes you happy, not someone else. Some already have goals in place; that goal can be anything, but typically revolves around a career choice. Yet there are others who are still undecided. To make this choice, the first step should be to discover who you really are, not who you think you are. This involves finding out how you learn and articulate information to make it “stick” in your mind; you learn better in the field or process information more accurately when it is written down. This will help you find the personality that defines you as accurately as possible. This is essential to decide the goal itself as your learning style and personality are linked to each other. This in turn will help define your strengths and weaknesses, as well as careers that fit both your personality and strengths. By choosing your desired career you will set your end goal, the next step is to set the end goal. No goal was achieved due to pure laziness and lack of motivation. In reality, it's exactly the opposite: achieving a truly worthwhile goal happens through hard work and determination. Beyond that, make sure you do the necessary research to achieve your goal. Once that's said and done, develop the master plan and put your plan into action. It will be a long and difficult road, but the harder the test, the greater the effort
