This was the characteristic trend that existed among different families. The African-American culture exhibited through religion, music, and folk tales gave the slave community a distinctive position of resistance in society. Former slaves that included both women and men were used as tools of the reality abolitionist movement; they acted as voices for their respective slave community. This article primarily seeks to evaluate and analyze major issues related to slavery and the search for freedom for African American slaves. It also seeks to expose the characteristics of the slave narrative advanced by various authors. A refined conclusion will also focus on the success factors that led to the freeing of slaves
