The media has a huge impact on the shaping of the world. For centuries, in all parts of the world, the media have been the main source of conveying news and of great use for public outcry. The media has helped shape the modern world from the 1400s until today. Media comes from many different sources, from books, to radio, to television. I will focus on the effectiveness that the media has had in the world throughout history in a religious, political and social context. The first printing press was invented by Johannes Gutenberg in 1436. Johannes Gutenberg was a goldsmith and businessman from a small town of Mainz in southern Germany. This printing press had adjustable letters made of wood or metal and was called the Gutenberg press. It was not fully finished until 1440. This press aided in the production of books but also aided in communicating with science, arts, and religion departments through text. The Gutenberg Bible was the first book to be printed by this press in 1452. In 1517, there were religious disputes between Catholics and Protestants in Western Europe. Martin Luther was a Christian theologian and Augustinian monk who inspired the Protestant Reformation with his teachings. He had intolerance for the corruption of Halloween by the Roman Catholic Church during this period. He used the printing press to create the 95 Theses of Contention at the Wittenberg Church. He believed in finding peace with God and praying for the souls of others. The 95 Theses of Contention challenged religious opinions within the Roman Catholic Church. He mentions the nature of the Catholic's fine for the wrong, questions the authority of the Pope and the propriety of the gratification. It eliminated some practices of the Catholic Church only......middle of paper......re. Act of Uniformity 1559. 8 May 2010. 3 May 2012 .Kipling, Rudyard. The white man's burden.
